Im looking for a skill that can...
Im looking for a skill that can hold an enemy in place and also interrupt them long enough to kill them. Any help is greatly appreciated.
this is the build that i have been using for a long time and has been very successful but it seems that Meteor shower is a bad choice of Semi-Snare/interrupt according to some of the [air of superiority] posters. So i am looking for a non elite skill because id rather have an elite that offers some kind of energy management.
[aura of restoration][fire attunement][glyph of sacrifice][meteor shower][assassins promise][deaths charge][bed of coals][flame djinn's haste]Keep up 1 and 2, use 3 to support 4, then just repeat 5,6,7,8 until all enemies are dead in area, using 3,4 when its advantageous
I do like the theme of [assassins promise] because it allows me to spam all day long plus i gain enough energy to spam the main skills but i would love to improve my knockdown move.
Any non-elite skill that can cause multiple AoE knockdowns in one cast is really what im looking for. I welcome any constructive advice with open ears/eyes.

Pretty sure [Meteor Shower] is only unconditional aoe knockdown that hits multiple times per one cast. Don't take my word for it though; the link provided has a list of all knockdown skills, conditional and unconditional. I'd look through them, but really, you can too, and I'm tired, so I'll leave you to it.

Thank you, you are a gentleman and a scholar. I will check out the link.
Hmm looks like [earthquake] and [dragons stomp] are the only ones that cause the AoE knockdown but they dont hit multiple times and they cause exhaustion and the energy cost is just as high as [meteor shower].
Thanks anyways. Maybe ill just make a whole new build, I'd like to incorporate [assassins promise] though.

[Mind Freeze] is good for keeping enemies in place, but its elite and single target D:

Give your frontline players [frozen burst] maybe? I know I've got a whacked setup but uh, I like to run a [frozen burst] [conjure frost] [eviscerate] ele with [assassin's promise] [meteor shower] nukers behind me.

Deep Freeze is pretty much the highest AOE snare you'll find next to Meteor Shower's KD. They both synergy very well though, especially taking Assassin's Promise.

thanks axel that is what i was thinking. i usually take a water ele hero with me anyways and i already have his [deep freeze] macro'd to my <F> key i guess i can continue to use AP meteor shower without feeling so inferior.
The confidence boost is appreciated.

If the problem is with HM monsters having an inherent speed boost and thus being able to jog out of AoE even while snared then putting [Muddy Terrain] on a ranger hero and operating it manually as necessary should work well in combination with [Deep Freeze] to keep the baddies where they should be.
Edit: I've always seen [Meteor Shower] as a primarily defensive skill and a decent one at that since every second monsters spend on all fours is a second they're not pestering my team. The damage from MS is just a coincidental bonus.

Give your frontliners [Earth shaker] and [grasping earth] maybe. I seen someone say frozen burst, but Imo it's too costly on a warrior.

thanks for the ranger tip. I have to say that other than UW trapper or occasional [magebane shot] interrupter, i really dont use the ranger to its fullest potential.
And that is exactly what i think about meteor shower, it actually has multiple benefits, i dont see why people bad mouth it soo much.
It works as a snare of sorts
It causes multiple knockdowns/interrupts
It deals mediocre damage
And if enemies do try to run out of it they arent attacking you or healing others while getting out of the way.

I sometimes use [earth shaker] in pvp, but in PvE i really dont use melee. Mainly because they have ran off and aggroed everyone on the map or just ran off and died leaving 3 mobs of enemies between Melonni's/koss's corpse and me.
Frankly, i have given up using melee on my team. the Thunderhead keep incident was the last straw. Long story short, i was holding down the fort and Melonni got a wild hair and decided to run outside the fort to solo the mursat. and died of course. i was sooo disappointed.

I'm guessing Melonni was set to offensive then? :P
I always have at least 2 frontliners and at least 1 Minion master when there is corpses. They keep pressure off the backline and the "squishy" characters.
Plus Buffed up physicals = Big dmgz. If you don't like bringing melee heros / hench then just bring a minion master at least, alot of the silly creatures in PvE will end up blocking themselves in your little minion army and you can feel free to blow shit up with [Meteor shower] or whatever.
But if you are bringing melee heros, Just keep an eye on them and make sure they don't do anything silly.

Ya i always use MM as my source of mele/meat shields. And all my heros are set to guard except monks and sometimes N/Rt livia(depending on whether she has [weapon of remedy] or [icy veins]) But until i have corpses for minions, i just try to kill as fast as possible and hope they die before making it to my back line.

Kewl.
I use 1 N/rit healer [weapon of remedy] but I want to try out the new [xinrae's weapon] once I'm back home. Then a Rt/N With:
[Offering of spirit][splinter weapon][ancestor's rage][barbs][mark of pain][Protective Was Kaolai][death pact signet]
it's pretty nice as I'm usally on my warrior and also works good with minions.
But I think my overall point was that using minions as shields is gg

yes it's just 66% but it's most used for snaring in AoE damage

have you had a chance to try out [spirit light weapon] on a N/Rt hero? Sounds pretty nice since mine like to summon [rejuvenation]

Hmm, Looks pretty nice. I'll have to try that aswell, although I don't like rejuvenation much to be honest 30 second cooldown is a bit high for me. I was thinking maybe you could put "You move like a dwarf!" in your build, then use something like extend conditions or epidemic on a hero to spread it around for a snare, but there's probably a better solution.
Edit: About mindfreeze, I think it's a bit of a waste to snare one foe in PvE, It's more of a PvP skill if you ask me, Pretty nice if your running alot of AoE damage in HA and It's nice for snaring Heros in HB. But not worth an Elite spot in PvE.

You really dont need a skill to AoE KD and Interrupt foes from the midline. your job as an ele is to deal out a little damage while providing utility to the team.
if you want to snare bring [Deep Freeze].
If you want KDs... bring a hammer warrior.
If you really want to interrupt, bring [Cry of Frustration]. (this ones good mecause it makes you go /Me, forcing you to look for a more useful elite)
